Meet Maisha & Ashley

Dr. Maisha Beasley and Ashley Carter, M.Ed. lead MEB Consulting Group (MEBCG), a Woman and Black-Owned business breaking down systemic barriers for African American youth. Their mission is to equip teachers, administrators, and executive leaders with the necessary training to dismantle systemic barriers of injustice that African American (AA) youth face in predominately suburban and white-centric locations.

Additionally, with a large demand for diversity, equity, and inclusion training in the workplace, MEBCG has expanded its suite of programs to meet the needs of professionals in various industries.

1. Develop brand identity
Create cohesive branding guidelines for a unified online presence

2. Improve business operations
Create a streamlined way to capture potential client information

Let's Go Back To The Start

Maisha and Ashley's rapid business growth demanded a website for client renewals, revenue boosts, and nationwide connections.

1. Scaling social impact

As MEBCG's business surged with rapid growth, the imperative for a website became evident. It catalyzes to elevate revenue, streamline client renewals, and simplify grant application processes. This online presence is pivotal for its social impact, forging connections with companies and organizations on a national scale that need DEI consulting services.

2. Enhancing Lead Management

Previously relying on manual lead collection via diverse channels such as text messages, emails, and DMs, Maisha's team faced inefficiencies. The integration of a user-friendly contact form on the website is a game-changer. This strategic addition not only enhances lead generation but also optimizes the entire client follow-up process for seamless business operations.

Defining The Content

Collaborating closely with the MEBCG team, we meticulously identified the essential content for the inaugural launch. Through a targeted exercise, we collectively determined the essentials of differentiating between must-haves and nice-to-haves. This process resulted in a focused and impactful partnership that aligned with MEBCG's immediate goals.

Visualizing The Future

It was time to take the ideas and create low-fidelity wireframes to help understand the placement of content.

Content Management Flow

In collaboration with a team of 5 MEBCG staff and recognizing their workload, I proactively initiated the establishment of a streamlined content management process using Asana. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and ensure a seamless workflow.

Crafting A Vibrant Brand Identity

MEBCG's current logo symbolizes unity and transformation. During our branding meeting, Maisha wanted a modern, clean, and community-oriented brand.

Optimize the current color palette

MEBCG maintains its existing color palette, streamlined to three shades out of the original five to enhance visitor experience by creating a visually comfortable aesthetic.

Application of accent color

Three weeks before the launch, Ashley asked to add testimonials to the site. Drawing inspiration from design patterns on other websites, testimonials are commonly featured on the home page, services page, or a dedicated testimonial page.

Recognizing its significance, I collaborated closely with stakeholders to determine the optimal placements. The blue accent color was perfect to help make them stand out on the page.

Font selection

The chosen typeface, Poppins, is renowned for its versatility, legibility, and friendly tone. This ensures a positive site visitor experience with clear, readable text, contributing to higher engagement.

Thoughtful stock photography curation

Supplementing MEBCG's event photos and headshots, the stock photo selection I chose reflects MEBCG's commitment to diversity and finding photos that reflect their ideal clients.

The Final Outcome

The anticipation built as I brought every element, gearing up to unveil the results to the MEBCG Team. During this reveal, I had the opportunity to articulate the reasoning behind my design choices – from the thoughtfully selected colors and fonts to the strategic flow of information.

The New Website Consists of:

✔ Core Pages (4): Homepage, About, Services, Contact
✔ Add-on Pages (2): Team, What We Do

✔ Testimonial Modules: Crafted to enhance credibility
✔ Contact Page: Simple page for lead generation

It was indeed a labor of love that resulted in a synergy of creativity and functionality, aligning with MEBCG's plans for their future.

Social Impact

In our collaborative journey, fostering a relationship with MEBCG has been both humbling and empowering. Together, we've propelled toward a greater purpose — the collective endeavor to shape our own economic destinies as women of color and diversify the marketplace.

This shared synergy has resulted in a website that resonates with the broader vision of empowerment and economic inclusivity.
